See what I did there with that title? Clever, huh. Such inner chuckling.
There are sometimes I just want to be real with you on this here blog and take a step back from the recipes and tips and reviews and just be me. I want to share and connect over random thoughts and things that make me happy that may or may not have anything to do with ice cream. And I want a dedicated space to do all of that. Thus, The Scoop is born. Enjoy.
+ Speaking of “enjoy,” The other day I was at my church and had some leftover cookies that I was passing out the kids to keep more sweets from coming home with me. As I was passing them out, I found myself putting on my smile, making small talk, and finishing off with a cheerful “Enjoy!” After working at a few bakeries, I apparently can’t get rid of that counter service charm when passing out sweets.
+ I’ve heard about this newfangled social media, Periscope, for a while but since I dropped Facebook last year and more recently drop Twitter because I was just SICK OF IT, I wasn’t even interested in looking into yet another social media. That was until my friend Amberly told me all about Periscope and got me watching some people’s scopes (is that what you call them?). Now I may be getting ahead of myself, but I thought the concept was cool and that I could have some fun making ice cream videos. I’m thinking I might do how-tos, reviews of cookbooks and ice cream shops, and general ice cream chatter. I’m still trying to get a feel for how it all works, but if you have an account, you can follow me and patiently wait to see if I ever post anything (no promises). I hope you aren’t sick of hearing about ice cream yet…
+ The whole point of all this ice cream shenanigans is to see if I could open an ice cream shop. I have a tendency to jump in headfirst to business ideas, but this time I decided to take it slow and do the day to day work first before I bought a domain, designed my branding, and ordered specially designed containers. Yes I would definitely go there so I’m proud of myself for how slow I’m moving. And of course you’re seeing the results of the day to day work that I have fallen in love with. It’s starting to really feel like I can do this! The other day we had some new friends over to help us clean out the freezer (what good friends they are) and after eating a few bowls, we sent them home with a quart of ice cream. The next day I got a text from them letting me know that they couldn’t resist eating the entire thing and that I should totally open an ice cream shop. GUYS. It made me feel soo good. And they also secured themselves the title of “friends for life.” That’s what flattery gets you.
Grateful for: This incredible weather so I can put my entirely fall wardrobe to good use.
Not loving: The MANY people in Indiana who text while driving. They’re going to kill me. I know it.
Craving: Crappy takeout chinese food. A ton of it.
Watching: Donald Trump say “China” over and over and over again. I die laughing every time.
Planning: Our first trip to Disneyworld!
Listening to: The Power of Vulnerability by Brene Brown. Oh and I’m addicted to GoodReads so if you’re on there, let’s stalk each other.
Obsessing over: ThredUp. Yay for more sustainable and cheaper clothing that I can now buy online!
