This week on the Collaboreat, we’re featuring the amazing city of Detroit where I had the opportunity to live over the summer last year. Josh and I both loved our time there and didn’t waste a single moment, always trying some great new restaurant or checking out a cool site. We read through city guide after city guide, searching out the best of Detroit and it definitely convinced us that this underrated city truly has incredible things to offer. In fact, if it weren’t for the awful winters, we’d move back there in a heartbeat!
If you ever get the opportunity to spend time in Detroit, please do. Eat a Coney Dog, walk the Riverwalk, go to a Lions game, shop around the Eastern Market, and take a drive to look at the magnificent architecture and fascinating urban decay. This city is truly inspiring and humbling and I fell in love with it immediately. I’ve shared my must-dos and must-eats in this Detroit City Guide and have also zoomed in on one of our favorite eateries there, Vinsetta Garage– an American comfort food restaurant housed in the oldest garage east of the Mississippi (and yes, they do serve amazing poutine). Josh and I plan on road-tripping back there and Vinsetta will be our first stop. But of course we’ll spend our entire trip eating because Detroit is packed with great eateries, including our favorite barbecue joint and favorite thai restaurant. Oh Detroit. I miss you.
