I am not a brunch person. This could be because I’m not a morning person or because I’m not an eggs and toast person or because I’m not a wait-for-a-table-for-an-hour-at-the-beginning-of-my-day type person. Because of my lack of enthusiasm for brunch, you can imagine my dismay when I moved to Indianapolis to find that their most well-known and arguably best restaurant was a brunch joint. Not only have they been awarded numerous local and state awards, they’ve recently been featured as one of Bon Appetit’s Best New Restaurants and the chefs have been invited to cook at James Beard House. So one weekend I surprised Josh by asking him to wake up early (by our standards) for brunch at Milktooth.
I guess I should now say I wasn’t a brunch person. Milktooth converted me with their friendly atmosphere and creative dishes that always wow me. No matter the wait, you can often find me sitting at their tables, munching on a hand pie and enjoying the company of fellow hungry friends bright and early on a Saturday morning.
After that first visit, Josh and I became hooked and on the weekends when we don’t make it up to their charming restaurant for brunch, we daydream and make plans for our next visit. It’s certainly our favorite restaurant in Indianapolis and I’m so happy to finally have a chance to write about it on the Collaboreat!
